The ACCC [Australian Competition and Consumer Commission] has ordered the company Power Balance to remove any claims that its wristband improves flexibility and strength and to offer dissatisfied customers a refund.
Exposed as a “sham”, these wristbands are still sold in the U.S. labled as a “performance technology”. If Australia has decided that this company’s advertising is potentially “misleading and deceptive,” when does this message spread across the U.S.?
The Power Balance bands are just rubber with a plastic hologram in each side. It provides a placebo effect. There is nothing magical about that. However, the popularity of these products is quite remarkable.
Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
